Event details

The 6th South West Astronomy fair takes place at the Norman Lockyer Observatory, Salcombe Hill, Sidmouth, Devon on August 6th 2011.

This well established and unique event is celebrating its sixth year, bringing visitors from all over the country to an area of oustanding natural beauty.

This provides an opportunity to visit our famous observatory, attend some excellent lectures by leading astronomers and to buy the latest astronomical and related equipment from the various trade stands.

We will have an Astro-imaging marquee, come along and see what we use, ask questions or maybe teach us something we didn't know! There is also a Radio Meteor Detection facility and the NLO Radio Group ready and willing to answer your questions.

Planetarium presentations and telescope dome tours take place throughout the day. Car parking and refreshments are available.

This year for the first time we are providing a couple of tables for those who wish to sell second-hand astronomy equipment. To use this facility you need to purchase a £ 5 voucher from the shop in the entrance hall.

The fair takes place on Saturday, 6th August 2011, from 9 am to 6 pm.

The event is suitable for all ages and welcomes disabled visitors by providing step free access. Futhermore we have a special stand for the visually impaired.

Entry to the fair is £ 5 per adult and £ 2.50 for children under 18.
