AAG Cloudwatcher

Having taken delivery of this unit a couple of weeks ago I thought I would write a quick review.

The unit is a combined cloud/rain/dark-light sensor and has a graphical output on a local or remote computer, all aspects of reporting safe/unsafe are user defined and can be adjusted to local conditions.

I initially had a problem with the device but after a short conversation on their Yahoo group a replacement was delivered on the understanding that I was to test the replacement before returning the faulty one for a full refund of postage(you cant get fairer than that!)

Under test it does what it says it will i.e report cloud, rain etc and through dedicated software - or Ascom drivers will close your obs roof or shutters or just pause imaging until a safe to image condition is detected. An internal relay is mounted into the unit that will simply engage when an unsafe limit is reached, this relay could be connected to a sounder/light or a close mechanism for a roof/shutter.

All in all a sound bit of kit.
