24 Comae Berenices anyone?

After browsing through April’s Sky at Night magazine I decided to look for 24 Comae Berenices as mentioned in the Deep Sky Guide.

I couldn’t see any stars at all with the naked eye just East of Leo due to light pollution and haze, but I found it easily using the chart in the magazine and 7 x 50 binoculars. I found it less easy to find with the telescope using an equatorial mount and a 6 x 30 finder. I haven’t quite got the hang of moving the scope in the direction of the RA and dec axis instead of fighting the mount and trying to push the tube directly to where you want to go. Anyway, I was delighted with 24 Comae Berenices when I found it. I thought it very similar to Cor Caroli having about the same separation of about 20 arc seconds. Well worth finding. Dave
