Specks on the inside of Nexstar 4SE

Recommended Posts

Hi..

I just wanted to check whether I should be worried.. This week I bought a nearly new Nexstar 4SE which apparently was an unwanted gift and never used.

I got it on Thursday and it truely does look in perfect condition. But today I built it and noticed that there is what can best be described as 'dust' on the inside of the Objective end.

I have attached a photo.. Should I be worried?

Jon

That's nothing to worry about at all, enjoy the views.

OK.. I accept that it won't affect the performance, but how can so much dust get in so quickly? Is this common? Do telescopes gather dust like this?

Is there any way to clean them?

Jon
