Manual hand controller for my CGEM 800

Recommended Posts

I must say at the outset, I love my CGEM 800. It is everthing I've always wanted in a telescope. Just one little niggling problem with doing manual guiding with this mount.... The computerized hand controller is NOT a nice thing to use for manual guiding. I HATE those membrane buttons they suck big time. Only 1 real solution.... make my own hand controller that I can use for manual guiding.

Fortunately the CGEM mount comes equipped with a RJ-12 modular plug-in for ST-4 Autoguiders. All you need to do is put together a simple switch box with the appropriate RJ-12 cable.

The reverser switches allow me to flip the RA and DEC buttons.
