Logging Observations

Hi All,

Have a Meade 2080 goto and very new to Astronomy.

So many stars to look at and trying to remember them all is a nightmare!I Have been looking at Orion and spotted Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Aldebaran,Rigel and Sirius!

Been reading that people keep logs of their observations.

What is it and how do you do it?

Any programs you can download to help?

I am quite strict with myself when it comes to filling out my log book. I find myself referring back to them to compare current observations or to just enjoy remembering a good time, like a star party. I usually write them out with pen and include the odd sketch as well.
