Chesire vs Home Made sighting tube for collimation

Recommended Posts

So soon I will be getting a Heritage 130p and being a Newtonian it will need to be collimated every so often. I am a man on a budget and therefore do not wish to spend any money needlessly.

So what are the benefits of a Chesire Collimator over a home made sighting cap?

Is it just convenience, ease of use, does it actually produce better collimation results or with patience can a home made one be as effective.
