Hi everyone, thank you all for the warm welcome! Still confused and still researching. This whole subject draws you to increase the budget, time to draw a line... again! I have managed to share my research with a couple of other newbies. I have also found another person with the same wish list so hopefully I am heading in the right direction. The Celestron C8 SGT XLT remains favourite but the CG5 GT mount appears to have received some "not so good" reports. Some say HEQ5 or EQ6 is the mount better suited to that tube, I assume that means more money!

It will depend what you want to do. If you want to do astrophotography with that C8 then you should choose a HEQ5, EQ6 or CGEM. If it is just visual, I think the CG5 should be ok.
