looks like you "citizen scientists" can download the images from sloan - anyone done it yet? is it worth doing?

Sloan is what GalaxyZoo is based on I believe. I *think* it might also be intergrated into googleSky and microsoftWWT at some level too.

This is Sloan DR8, otherwise known as Sloan III I think (or at least part of it). Basically they have increased the area of the previous release (DR7) and re-reduced the DR7 data to improve various things (bright galaxies for one).
