No Ha last night

I had set up to image some of the faint stuff that Rog. does so well and the Pacman was in the right place. With the Ha filter in place I was getting just about nothing on the chip. Full gain and 90 seconds to get stars! Anybody know if the nasty hazy sky would effectively filter out all the Ha light?

Which camera CC? The dSLR will not like Ha, the SC3 should be better though but even so 90 secs is not very long Ha-wise. Haze will scatter *any* light so this would not have helped.

Sorry, should have been clearer. It was the SC3 which, up until last night, would get frames much more quickly than that when i have the focal reducer on the 8" Newt. as it makes it quite fast. It appeared to be acting like the Mak. for a while.

I tend not to use the dSLR these days as I can't seem to get the focus good enough. Must have another go with it though, especially as M42 is due out of the tree in the next week or two.

In fact I think I'll chop the thing down this week. The boy has built a tree house and banged so many nails in the tree that its probably unsafe now.
