1:25" or 2" EP

Recommended Posts

Today i received my new EP's (Baader Hyperion 8mm & 24mm)

They are 2" EP's but come fitted with 1:25" adaptor's and i was just curious as to wether that make's a significant difference in my obseving. Hopefully will be out later as the cloud's have dispersed for the first time in day's and will be trying the new EP's out for myself. I apologise for the simple question :)

The 8mm and 24 mm are 1.25" EPs. They can be fitted into a 2" focusser but it makes no difference to the view you get.

With the 8mm you can unscrew the first part of the EP and convert it to an approx 21mm 2" EP.

Some people have had trouble putting hyperions in 2" diagonals as the 1.25" part goes deep into the diagonal and can strike the diagonal's mirror.

None. The eyepieces are 1.25" eyepieces with an extra 2" skirt for reasons of convenience and because the require less focuser in-travel that way (which might be good on some scopes).

If you use them in 2" mode you might have trouble racking your focuser out enough to get them in focus.
