Celestrion CPC 925

HI ALL,

Have just bought secondhand celestrion 925 cpc for the wife's B/day and wonder what the general concensus is on one of these.

are they any good and what will we be able to see with it, also can it be used with a camera we live in south west of West Australia, does it show up the stars well enough, what sort of eye pieces will increase its performance ..etc

The answers "yes" to all questions. It's a brilliant scope - I have the 800 and love it to bits. I use Hyperions, and TV ep's with it plus one or two WO's. I also use binoviewers which have to be seen to be believed (the 3D like views of the stars are incredible). It's great with a camera too just don't get too close to the zenith cos base clearance isn't all it could be.

But remember it isn't EQ. You'd need a decent wedge for that. So dso photography is tricky to set up but nonetheless possible. You'll get cracking planetary shots though

Agree with brantuk, the only real caution is that it's heavy!

Oh I forgot to mention the optics - first class they are. It does have very convenient carry handles and a really solid mount - but as brian says the 925 will be considerably heavier than my 800
