Solar viewing with a Dobsonian

Recommended Posts

HELP....This might be a daft question..but it won't be my last (I can assure you).

Is it possible to use a Meade 10" dobsonian to view the sun?

I'm still trying to get my head around ALL of the info on SGL but cannot find suitable thread.

Can someone tell me if this is possible or I am better saving up for a solar scope?

Thanks.

it's no problem. I do it a fair bit. You just need to make yourself a filter with baader solar film. Can get a sheet of flo.

However if it's a lightbridge, u wud need a shroud as you wouldnt want unfiltered sun light on ur mirrors.

U'll be able to see the white disc with sunspots.
