Help with some imaging collaboration

Recommended Posts

I have a Skywatcher 130P with varying eyepieces and filters, and my friend has a Canon EOS 450D DSLR camera.

We'd like to get the two together for some imaging experiments, but we're looking for some good info on where to start; I did look for a 'getting started with DSLR imaging' primer but couldn't see one :)

Ideally what we need to know is;

Will the Skywatcher 130P ALT-AZ GOTO Mount take the 454g of the camera?

Which camera mount would we need to buy?

Once we buy the mount, is that enough? Or do we need a T-Adaptor too?

Can we be expecting to use my scope's eyepieces? Or will we be going straight to the camera from the scope?

Apologies for the many questions; we can work most out for ourselves but we're at a loss on how to start, LOL. Thank you very much :)

To be honest, you can't really do any better than getting a copy of 'Every Photon Counts' - an excellent introduction (and more) to astrophotography. It is by SGL's very own Steve Richards aka Steppenwolf.

Get a copy and it'll tell you in a very easy to understand way how to do everything and what you need to buy.
