New Moon, Annular Solar Eclipse.

Recommended Posts

[move]*ON 3 OCTOBER 2005*[/move]

The New Moon this time produces an "annular" solar eclipse not visible from North America. The path runs from the North Atlantic through the Iberian Peninsula into Africa and ends in the central Indian Ocean. An "annular" eclipse occurs when the Moon is a bit farther from Earth than usual, and hence does not completely cover the Sun. Instead, at locations along the path it produces an "annulus" or ring of light.
