Cameras and Dew

Recommended Posts

What do you guys do once you have finished your imaging run to prevent dew forming in or on your precious DSLRs CCDs or guidecams. All seems well when they are in operation but on very damp nights dew forms very readily when they are turned off.

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

Pete

wrapped around the camera(s)?

The lens has a heater strip wrapped round it to keep the outer element dew free. The camera will not dew up whilst in use because of the heating effect of its own power consumption .... so just leave it running unless you want to bring it in. If at all possible power it on for at least 15 mins after bringing it in.

If it does get dewed (or showered on - much more of a risk in my experience) seal it into a poly bag with a couple of fresh silica gel sachets, bring inside & leave for 24 hours.
