Google Earth Deep Field...

OK, is the Hubble Deep Field image data part of Google Earth (Sky bit) does anyone know? Centred at RA 14h 19m 21s Dec 52^o 34'47.55

If not, it's a pretty good imitation!

Arthur, are you using the desktop version with KMLNow! ? If so, then probably yes, since it accesses the images from the Virtual Observatory site, which has the Hubble, Spitzer and other images they serve through kml.

The default Sky only has the DSS data I believe.

I think I am yes - which would indeed explain it, thanks! I had though the HDF was just that, a picture, but in fact it's quite a strip of sky.

I confess I haven't played with it much, but it seems you can get all sorts of "looks" at the patch of sky, including Chandra xrays and Spitzer IR. If I have some time I'll give it a better look.

Google is cool.

Hmm - the Hubble Deep Field is

12h 36m 49.40s +62d 12' 58.0" (J2000)

and it is a single pointing (L shaped in fact). The HDFS and the HUDF are both in the South.
