VERIFYING PACKAGES ISSUE IN CELESTRON NEXSTAR 8SE

Recommended Posts

An year ago I had got my hands on the nexstar 8se and ever since have been getting "verifying packages" on my controller whilst using the go to function.

I live in a bortle ~7 sky and hence finding more than one <4-5 magnitude star is pretty hard. Forcing me to use the one star align method. But whilst using go to mechanism, the telescope stops midway and shows "verifying packages".

Kindly provide a solution to this problem if any of you have faced it earlier.

  • Cornelius Varley changed the title to VERIFYING PACKAGES ISSUE IN CELESTRON NEXSTAR 8SE

If I remember correctly, 'verifying packages' is part of the normal startup routine.

I suspect that you have a bad connection where your power cable enters the mount, and that the azimuth motion of the mount causes the power to momentarily disconnect and reconnect the power, causing the mount to a) stop, and b) run through its start-up routine.

Solution: use a craft knife to fettle the center pin for a tighter contact and use a stick-on cable tie to stop the power cable flopping around.

Bad connections are very common with these connectors.

Hey cosmic Geoff,

I will try it and see if it works. Thanks for your reply
