A few quick DSO sketches from last night

Weirdly I wasn't in the mood for sketching last night but I still did some 10-20 minutes doodles with pencils (then inverted colors on the phone). I'm very happy of my field skecting set up which includes my notebook with hard cover, an HB pencil, a 3B pencil and a stump, all in a pencil holder that I can fix to the notebook with an elastic. It works perfect everywhere and is easy to carry. I miss pastels but at least I can draw

M11 was very low on the horizon, and not fully resolved. I'm not particularly happy with the sketch, but it was a fun challenge to start the night.

Then we have M15, which is possibly my favorite globular cluster. It looks so elegant, and not so "in your face" as the flamboyant and spectacular M13...

Finally, I went back and finished M27, which I had started two days ago but never finished due to oncoming clouds. The view in the eyepiece was not as obvious as my sketch suggests, but it was my clearest view of the Dumbbell from this light polluted location - by a mile. Also, it's always possible that I ended up drawing the shape as I expected to see it and not exactly how it was

Nice - I have only just started sketching so it is nice to see what others are doing (mostly better than I 😀). I am curious as to the surface you have drawn on - is that black card and what do you draw with?

This is simple pencil on paper. Then I took a picture and used an app on my phone to invert whites and blacks. An actual sketch would look like this:

Nice - I'll find that app. Cheers.
