June 28/29, 2024: Stunning Noctilucent Cloud Display

Recommended Posts

Spotted some bright NLCs from my home so immediately grabbed the Canon EOS M6 mk-ii with some fast lenses and tripod. Had a go with the Sigma 16 mm F/1.4, ISO 100 at a place just north of the hamlet of Dorkwerd (just north of the city of Groningen)

Stunning lens, even at full aperture. I essentially got this one for aurorae or NLCs, and it certainly performs very well.

Did some detail shots with the Sigma 56mm F/1.4 as well

Also no slouch.

I then drove on to one of my favourite haunts at Aduarderzijl. First shot with the 16 mm F/1.4

Nice wide field but the display had shrunk in size a bit. I then took the 56mm in portrait orientation and made a 5 pane panorama

Really chuffed. Will process the raw files I took and see if I can further improve the shots tomorrow
