Supernova remnant SNR G206.9+2.3

hello everyone!

The supernova remnant SNR G206.9+2.3 in the constellation Monoceros is a rarely photographed object given its low brightness and filamentary shape. Taking advantage of the size and efficiency of the #asi2600mc sensor with the #woptics #wogt81iv #fpl53 focal length, it can be achieved with a good number of exposure hours and good processing management, emission object in the O[III] and H bands -alpha captured with #optolonglextreme narrowband filter in subs of 900 seconds x 66 for a total of 16.5 hr that leaves the image on equal terms in terms of SNR.

It is difficult to frame even with the coordinates of the object, in a light it does not even appear, the short focal length makes locating according to the stars even more complicated and when stacking the shots the initial view barely shows the tenuous threads of the supernova .

Captured on February 2-3-8-15-16 before the crescent moon appears.

The initial image is shown under the emission lines of the filter in Ha and Oiii, later a false color in hubble SHO palette was used and shows a little more faint details of the nebula; In the annotated version of #pixinsigth it does not yet register under any catalog.

The coordinates of the SNR are given in Sinbad as: RA = 06 h 48 min 40.0 s and DE = +06° 26' 00". However, the center point of the optical ellipse is significantly removed from this. Using the AdW, can be RA = 06 h 49 min 04 s and DE = +06° 20' 23". This results in 54' x 37'. The deletion of SNR G206.9+2.3 is very inconsistent in the literature. This is partly due to the low intensity of the object, both in the optical and radio ranges. Graham et al. (1982) estimate 3 to 5 kpc (9800 - 16 000 ly), while Odegard (1986)
calculates only 400 pc (~1300 ly). Clark and Caswell (1976) claim 2.6 kpc (~8500 ly). Regarding age, Leahey (1986) uses X-ray measurements to estimate the age at 60,000 years.
