Nov. 5 aurora from south Derbyshire

Recommended Posts

I had three goes, venturing a little way up the canal path to get a clearish view of the north. The trouble was I had to aim right at the light pollution dome of Derby, but even so still managed to image hints of the auroral display that was already subsiding. The first image was taken around 20:00 UT. I wasn't sure initially if I'd caught anything, but looking at other images from around the time I can see a similar pattern, with a big splodge of red on the left, and a mixture of green and red towards the center of the image. The second image was taken around 22:30 UT. A third attempt just after 23:00 UT yielded nothing.

Canon 1DsII + Sigma Art 20/1.4 @ f1.4, ISO 800, around 1s exposure.
