NINA and PHD2

Hi there,

I have been relatively successful with NINA over the past few months and am looking to add guiding with PHD2 to the mix. I have spent a bunch of time getting my OAG set up and focused and saw stars in PHD2 for the first time last night. I have an EQ6-R Pro mount, am connected to it via USB and use SynScan on Windows to control the mount. NINA has no problem connecting to and tracking the mount over USB.

The part I don't understand is if I configure NINA to start PHD2 how will PHD2 also connect to the mount for guiding? Do both apps talk to SynScan and it takes care of talking to the mount? Is SynScan suitable for this? All the tutorials I can find talk about using EQMOD. Trying to get it all straight in my head before I waste dark time trying to figure it all out.

Thanks

Mike

Nina just sends basic commands to PHD2 to stop and start guiding (start of sequence, during slews, focus routines etc). It is still PHD2 that is sending the guide commands to the actual mount.

If PHD2 can connect to your mount using the synscan app on Windows then you should be fine I think.
