New camera images too dark to stack

I used my Altair Astro camera last night.  Set the gain to just above unity.  Bumped the dark bar to about 6.  The images were 3 minutes but are so dark they are black in DSS before stacking.  If I stretch far to the left they look fine.  But DSS is apparently only seeing the black unstretched images and cant find any stars.  How do I get DSS to see the stretched images?
