New Telescope advice

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm a newbie from India. Im really very happy to be a part of this forum..

I need your valuable advice in purchasing my first telescope, I have been observing with 10×50 Binoculars for 2 years now and I want to get deep into it. Since I am in India, I don't have many options to get the best telescopes out there, however there is a dealer near to my city who sells GSO and Explore Scientific telescopes. I am thinking to purchase a 10" Dobsonian of any of these brand. My question is: Is it a good option to go with a 10" inch Dobsonian. I want to see the nebulaes and clusters with good details.

Thank you in advance 😊

A 10" Dobsonian is a large, heavy scope that will require carrying in two parts. It also sits quite low to the ground so you need good sight lines from your observing location to see low objects. So long as you can easily and safely transport it from the storage location to the observing location then it is an excellent choice of telescope, and will show nebulae well under dark skies, and be able to show star clusters well even under light polluted skies.
