you can do low res spectroscopy at 1nm pr pixel approx with the star analyser grating...they come in 100lines/mm and 600lines/mm....they are 1.25" and fit just like a filter...they are seeing dependant, but from a decent site you will find it fine. we did it from the centre of glasgow through a terrible scope at the uni obs.

after calibrating you spectrum, you require filter curves (transmission vs wavelength for UBVRI)....the add up under the response curve (integration) and hey presto....filter photometry without a filter
