One of the problems with some mounts (certainly Meade) is that they use a mix of threads both imperial and metric or you have a load of bolts loose in a tin or draw.. Also trying to quickly size a particular bolt  can be an issue.

Found this on Amazon and ordered it. Very useful indeed. It even has a thread gauge on the back.
