Binning Question

Recommended Posts

I haven't done it. CMOS cameras don't have the same level of S/N improvement as CCD cameras when you bin. And when binning beyond 2x2 you will start to lose detail. Unlike LRGB imaging, where you'd bin RGB to get away with shorter integration times and where the detail is in the unbinned L, NB imaging has no substitute for lost detail. You capture all the detail in each filter.

Thanks.
