Now For Something Completely Different?

Imagine if Jupiter  wasn't much brighter than its Galilean satellites. And that its satellites weren't much brighter than the nearby stars.

Stars - 10s exposure

Moons - 1/5s exposure

Jupiter - 1/1000s exposure

Approximately 50 frames each.

Layered up in Photoshop.

Jupiter is not the brightest object in the finished image, that's Zuben Hakrabi.

The biggest challenge was Ganymede, just completing its transit. The small images are not entries, just to show part of the process one is the stack of the 'moon' subs - you can see the little lump extracted for the final image, and Jupiter alone.

All images taken with 450D on 130P-DS.
