Just read this on CN, seems Michigan are constructiong an observatory at the Headlands Dark Sky Park.

Have to admit it looks good, very good. So if anyone is visiting that part of the US in the coming year - check when it will be complete and fully open - it looks like it could be worth a visit.

The section titled Pardon Our Star Dust shows the building, looks like the most recent is at the top.

I assume from the construction photographs that the nearness of water is not a problem.
