Sadr 70mm widefield in full moon!

Recommended Posts

This was my first go at guiding my camera and it seemed to work well (on an EQ5pro with MGEN). It was full moon and I was surprised, and pleased, at the amount of nebulosity captured. I can't wait to have a go at this region again in astro darkness and without our light polluting friend.

15 X 4 min, iso 400, F7.1, 70mm (Canon EF 70-300 zoom L), modded 100D, Dithered and bias frame used. Stacked in DSS and processed in Photoshop.

I'm sure others will be able to identify more than me in this skyscape. I can see Sadr and Deneb, Part of the North American Nebula and a very small Crescent. I think I should put Deneb centre frame next time and have a go at a mozaic for the first time.

I'm enjoying using my lenses very much! Its great to see what an off the shelf (almost!) DSLR and lens can capture.
