Replacing Old Obs - 5

Added a few extras. I wanted to be able to lock the roof down when we get high winds. So I have used 4 turnbuckles from Screwfix. (see pic) These are quite substantial at 3/8 ths thickness. I also found it difficult to find a place to grab the roof and push it so I installed a central piece of wood which is supported by 2 up turned castors.( see pic). I also increased the number of castors to 6 on each side of the roof - now its easy to push and very quiet.

PS just noticed in first pic - missed out a couple of screws.

The turnbuckle are similar to the ones I had on my rolloff. I had four, but only two were in place when the microburst came and blew the roof to Jupiter. No, seriously, it landed on Jupiter.

It was so windy last night I had all 4 in place. The obs though is in a sheltered spot in the garden.

Good plan. Mine is out in open spaces.
