Field flattener question.

Recommended Posts

Good evening all,

just a quick question. Can I use a field flattener that I bought for my 200p reflector with my 80 cm refractor? I am currently imaging with my Meade 5000 refractor. The PHD graph is very good, yet I am getting very elongated stars around the edges.

cheers

A Newtonian has its field curvature in the opposite direction of a that of refractor (see here). This would mean that the field curvature of a refractor would get worse if you try to cure it with a corrector for a reflector.
