DIY collimatingscrews

Hi!

Just wanted to show you my new DIY collimatingscrews for the secondary mirror on my SW 250px.

I just replaced the stock screws with M4 x 40 screws.

Glued some valvecaps I found on my wife's bike, to the head of the M4 bolt

I grinded the screws a little bit sharper at the end. (left=grinded, right=original)

I'm very happy with the result!

Brilliant idea!  Maybe round and polish the ends so they don't cut into the back of the secondary support.

Actually, I placed a plastic- and a steel-wacher between the spider and the secondary support to protect the secondary support. Now the screws rub against the steelwacher instead of the soft support. Works great!

Why on earth don't all scopes come like that?!

Do you mind if I copy you? And if not do you think that it would be the same size screw on my skyliner 200p?

My original plan was to get 3 of the same Allen keys and somehow glue them on, but this is much better.

There should be a section on sgl called 'really really good ideas that make life a whole lot easier'

Feel free to copy, that's why i posted  

I think it's the same M4 bolts on most scopes.

A tip for replacing: Replace one at a time, then the scope will keep collimated more or less. (Undo the original and then do the new until it's tight).

Thanks. Will pop into town and get some later today. Maybe then I'll finally get round to collimating my scope!
