TAKAHASHI EM-400 TEMMA II -Encodes

Hi, i am thinking of buying the above mount, and looking at the specifications, I noticed that its has encodes, although in the description of the mount does not specify exactly it functionality, like for example the AP mount1100 absolute encoders gives a detail description, I was wandering if someone has experience with the EM-400 and could explain what is the use of its encodes.
