Bresser 8" f3.9 Newtonian OTA

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is my first post!

So I've spent the last few days scavenging the internet about this telescope OTA:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1148277-REG/bresser_br_n20839_8_f_3_9_reflector_telescope.html

I haven't found much, so I was wondering if anyone has had success with this scope? does it take good astrophotos? The thing that worries me is that is that it comes with a coma corrector worth $300, which I would need. This worries me because the scope might only be worth something like $200-$300. So basically, is the scope really worth $500?

Thanks in advance.

Looks a standard re-badged GSO telescope that many vendors seem to sell:

USD$500 = Euros454 = GBP£323 so the price is about right. If it comes with a 'free' coma corrector (which you will need for AP) then that is a bonus.

The indicated free coma corrector is this one

I don't know if they are any good- but it will be certainly better than nothing.

You should also budget for some high quality collimation tools when using F4 (and faster) Newtonians.

Regardin the quality of the GSO Newtonians- like the Skywatcher offerings- they are satisfactory at that price level.
