spc900nc led controled lx mod

I recently acquired spc900nc Philips webcam mainly to be used as a guider camera.
This camera is easily modifiable to make long exposure frames and many tutorials on the net explain how to do it.
All of them propose the use of a parallel or serial port to control the long exposure circuit.
However I'm interested in a particular modification that uses the USB signal controlling the LED to control the long exposure frames.
Such modification does not need the use of any additional cable to control de exposures.
This tutorial seems to have existed in a site which is no longer available: http://www.home.zonnet.nl/m.m.j.meijer/D_I_Y/spc900nc.htm
.

I would be very glade if someone in this forum had such tutorial to share or could explain how the wiring of this modification is done.

Thanks in advance.
Fausto.
