Lodestar x2/EQ3 pro/PHD2 direction problems

Recommended Posts

Just playing around to get an understanding before upgrading system, I find that PHD2 autoguiding sort if works, then goes mad.  Using the Manual Guide option, I find the North button decreases Dec, the South button increases Dec (fine so far, not polar aligned), but both the East and West buttons increase RA.  Is this right?  I am using the ST4 cable that came with the Lodestar X2.  The mount is an EQ3 Pro (the black one, probably quite an old model?)  This observation would explain the observed autoguiding actions, but my head needs an explanation for the observation.  I have previously grounded each pin on the EQ3 connector to check action and all seemed to be OK, conforming to the pinout shown in the EQ3/2 manual, which is all I have.  A made-up RS232 cable connecting the EQ3 hand controller to a PC running The Sky 6 showed expected results.  A made-up Centronics LPT1 port via reed relays to the ST4 port on the mount also shoed expected results, each direction selected on the PC being responded to as expected by the mount.  Do I have a problem with the Lodestar ST4 port?  Ant ideas or suggestions would be most warmly welcomed.  Thanks,  Bob.
