Laser Collimator

I made this little beast around an expensive laser module I was given - it was rejected for use by an optical company.

The module is fitted in a long, loose plug with an o-ring and the three screws. The bevelled plug has a central No.50 hole which reduces the spot to less than 2mm. Setup is simple - rest on the V-blocks and adjust until the spot doesn't move when the body is rotated.

It showed that my secondary mirror was way off straight away.

Nice tight beam, the spot disappears entirely when aligned.

To finish needs the screws becoming grub screws and a switch holder/battery cover. I might try anodising it.
