software that detects motion of planetary bodies in photos?

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have been searching high and low for software that can compare two images of the nightsky, and compare them to see if there where any movement in the background, which would depict asteroid movement, for instance.

I have only found CCDSOFT, but it is to powerfull and a bit of an overkill. Does anybody know of any software that can do this?

Thanks

Yes, thanks.

Step 2 in the link you have send me actually did the trick.

Now we have the images, we will need a way to view them quickly in sequence - just like watching a movie for instance. Our eyes will then be able to perceive even the slightest movement of any cometary object that comes into view.

I am a software developer - so maybe I'll create my own viewer that works this way.

Thanks

Nico
