Uptight about electric focuser

Floater

Recommended Posts

Just fitted a Skywatcher 'auto focuser' to my Skyliner 150P today. (As others have pointed out, it's NOT an 'auto' focuser and should be named an electric focuser.)

Anyhow, it came with what I believe to be an adapter attached to the motor which had to be removed before I could fit it to my focuser. Even a couple of calls to the suppliers, Rother Valley Optics (out of stock at FLO), didn't identify what the problem was and I had to figure it out myself.

The upshot is that any other Skyliner 150 owners who install this retrofit should be aware that the aluminium knurled knob adapter is a seriously tight fit! It needs a lot of force to lever it off! And that's a worry unless you know in advance ...
