Unsuspected Ha in famous targets.

Fabian Neyer has surprized us several times by finding large scale Ha emission in targets where none has been previously suspected. We are following in his footsteps here by doing a wide Cocoon in Ha. His image is going to be a hard act to follow but it's fun to try. He also did an Ha take on the Double Cluster.

So where else do you think there might be some ghostly Ha to be had? Young Milky Way clusters might be a good bet.

There are various all-sky surveys in different lengths including Ha and radio emissions of atomic hydrogen on this site, not sure that helps. Perhaps overlaying a map of O & B stars over the radio might help pinpoint some overlooked faint Ha regions.

I also find myself wondering if there are any mysterious OIII signals out there, like the squid.

I'm sure there are but, boy, if they are planetaries it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. They do turn up though. Soap Bubble, Squid, etc. I'd settle for a bit of lively background sky in Ha. Thanks for the link.

Thanks for linking to Galaxy Map!

For Ha, a good starting point is the integrated catalog.

My description of the catalog is here:

The zoomable image in the Milky Way Explorer is here:

http://galaxymap.org/mwe/mwe.php?centreLon=334.86328125&centreLat=%2B1.845703125&zoom=5&tile_set=integrated_ha&show_markers=1

and the Excel spreadsheet is here:

Hope you find it useful. Feedback is welcome!
