mars

Thats a shame. Mars is looking pretty good tonight. Perhaps the flood will be turned off soon ?

Can you observe sitting down ? - it might help stop the cramp coming on.

I find with bright planets like mars at the moment, light pollution doesn't affect viewing so much. As long as you can keep direct light away from the telescope optics, light pollution in the sky shouldn't cause a problem. The main issues are usually the condition of the atmosphere (evening heat currents, currents in the upper a atmosphere after warm, cold fronts etc.)

If you can find an inventive way of blocking direct light from the flood lights, it's still worth a look ;)
