mac19
I'm rookie so excuse my ignorance... I'm purchasing a Celestron 9.25 and I'm looking at the the following to mounts. I have access to a used "as new" CGE mount or a new CGEM mount. The CGE is a bit more but within budget. My ambitions are visual but working towards imaging over the next couple years. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
RAC
I would go for the CGE if it's not much more money.
riklaunim
CGE is heavy duty mount, much above EQ6, while CGEM is more lightweight. For imaging the first one should be better as it will be able to keep stable even bigger OTAs. CGEM could also be used but for long exposure DS imaging it would like smaller OTAs. DaveS
If the CGE is in your budget, and not much more then the CGEM then I'd go for it, especially if you are thinking of imaging, where you can never be over-mounted.

Chris Rowland
Carry them both around a bit. The CGE is pretty heavy and you won't do much observing if it's too heavy to get out regularly.Chris
