First Light with new Celestron Advanced VX 8 inch .....

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Took delivery of my new Celestron Advanced C8-N inch on Thursday, and Canon 1100D yesterday.

Pretty decent clear sky last night here in Rugby, which seemed to improve as the hours passed by.

Got my first proper look at Jupiter and it's moons and what a spectacular sight it was - even all the moons were aligned in a perfect diagonal from bottom left to top right (twenty to - ten past on a clock face if you like) - it was breathtaking (well for me anyway).

After a bit of star hopping I thought I would have a look at the moon and try out my camera very quickly.  Considering I have loads to learn with both the scope and the camera I am happy enough to have a least a photo from last night. (attached)

Looking forward to the large learning curve before me - now thoroughly hooked! :)post-12762-0-47620800-1394363659_thumb.j

Sounds like you had an enjoyable first night.

It's nice to end up with a good image when you have packed up.

Looking forward to seeing some more pics as you progress.
