Anyone got hints or tips on tightening the helical focuser on an SM40?

Mine is sloppy (as usual) but still functional and I want to dismantle and reassemble correctly rather than dismantle permanently!

I am fairly well skilled in this sort of thing so I'm happy with the gory details and any mods suggested ... apart from a Scopos crayford focuser mod as I can't find the focuser!
