Some basic imaging. What do I need?

Thanks for the update. I think the key thing is the testing in daylight. You can see if and where you can get focus on something. What level you capture is simply down to how long you can expose for.

Last time I was out I piggy backed the scope with my EOS 300D and 300mm lens, thanks to a pretty good polar alignment took around 60 5 second exposures and stacked to get the image below.

I still have to try and see how long I can get through the scope, but I love the piggy back and next time when the moon is not in the way will try a star further away from polaris to see how well the tracking is going.

A simple RA motor, even if it's not very accurate is a massive help to not having one at all.
