ED80 for double stars?

Recommended Posts

I'm on the verge of purchasing a scope for astrophotography, i have decided on an ED80 and have read that f5-f6 is a good focal ratio for wide field star clusters, nebulae etc, however i would like to observe/image double stars as i understand there are some beautiful sights to be had, such as Altair with it's different colours, would the same scope do everything?

Neil.

Double stars no problem with decent EP, but for imaging you may need to go eyepiece projection route.

Here is Polaris with EP projection, SW 80ED Pro.......Canon 600D mounted on a Baader Hyperion zoom set at 8mm.

Exposure was around 8secs@ISO800.....imaged cropped out of larger one.
