Smileys or emojis

I recently downloaded an emoji app. For some reason the option of using smileys when making posts on SGL has vanished. They're on my keyboard and when I use those they appear in the appropriate part of text when I insert them, but are missing from the post when it goes live. Can anyone advise on this.
