Ceres and Vesta - tips?

Hello all,

Cruising around in Stellarium to give me some observing ideas, I noticed both Ceres and Vesta are in Taurus at the moment and at an achievable magnitude:

Ceres - Mag 7.55, and very close to Alnath (β Tau)

Vesta - Mag 7.27, near τ Tau

Has anyone had any joy in finding these, and have you got any tips to share? I'd like to target these in the near future (when the weather obliges!).
